Kevin Petersen AIA, LEED AP
Kevin Petersen is a principal who leads planning and architecture projects. He has helped educational institutions make better use of space to leverage interdisciplinary collaboration, improve efficiency, and strengthen their campuses. With expertise in both architecture and planning, he tackles large, complex projects at every stage: from strategy to implementation. Over the past decade, he has led strategic facility planning, space use analysis and programming, campus master planning, and architectural design efforts on campuses throughout the United States and internationally. These experiences have strengthened his strategic skills, allowing him to make decisions that are practical and holistic while capitalizing on the firm’s multidisciplinary skillset.
Kevin feels strongly that the context and culture of an institution should underpin all strategic design decisions, to achieve results that feel tailored to each client’s unique needs. He finds it most exciting when he can engage clients in the planning process and find true consensus for how to move forward with the integration of graphic and data analyses, comprehensive problem-solving, and design excellence. Some of his recent projects include work at Vanderbilt University, University of Notre Dame, Washington University in St. Louis, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the planning and design of new greenfield campuses for the American University in Bahrain and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
