Tim Burkett

Tim Burkett is the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, with degrees in chemical engineering and business along with more than 25 years of on-the-job training in the architecture and engineering industry. With interests in financial management, project partnering, and risk management, Tim focuses on operational leverage, cohesion, and process optimization to improve client experience and project deliverables.  

Tim is passionate about leadership development and coaching, seeking the best in employees and helping them to grow and find a sense of purpose. He believes in the importance of transparency about project and firm performance so that everyone can learn from experiences and apply that wisdom moving forward. He finds it most rewarding to watch the creative process at work and to see ideas come to reality in the built form.  

Professionally, Tim co-leads the AIA Chief Operating Officer Large Firm Roundtable and is active on the Innovation Design Consortium (IDC) Steering Committee. Tim also leads an IDC task force exploring an industry-wide framework tool that could build engagement and lift industry design innovation and productivity.

Outside of work, Tim is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Board of Directors and Chair of the JDRF Maryland Mission Board, which works to provide fundraising and support for those living with Type One diabetes.
