The University of Pittsburgh Campus Master Plan is a flexible framework for future development. It serves as a strategic roadmap for campus-wide renewal and growth while balancing visionary goals with what can be realistically implemented. The master plan concepts can be summarized into five overarching core ideas: academic excellence, an enriching student experience, a welcoming and attractive campus, an outward-looking and engaged university, and synergies and efficiencies. The plan is a physical manifestation of Pitt’s strategic plan and lays out a set of options of what is probable, possible, and preferred to support its mission. The end goal is to advance Pitt’s mission and its impact on the community, the region, and the world.
