Rainey Hufstetler AIA, LEED AP, NCARB
Rainey Hufstetler is a registered architect and lab planner with over 20 years of design experience focused on STEM facilities and teaching and research laboratories. Throughout her career working with higher education clients and the government, she has designed a wide variety of specialized core lab spaces, including biocontainment, pilot plant, and vivarium facilities. Rainey takes a holistic approach to lab design, considering the relationships between research spaces, common areas, and other space types. She enjoys working closely with clients to uncover their specific research needs and finds it rewarding when she can create custom, specific environments where scientists and other researchers can work more efficiently and creatively.
An advocate for sustainability in lab design, Rainey served as a founding member of the Atlanta chapter of the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories (I2SL). She has also contributed to lab design guidelines for the National Institutes of Health and the Center for Disease Control. New to Ayers Saint Gross in 2024 and based in Atlanta, Rainey is excited to work on an interdisciplinary team and promote lab design knowledge both inside the firm and with our clients.
