Matt Pearson AIA, RIBA
Matt Pearson is an associate principal with 23 years of experience designing award-winning higher education, civic, and cultural projects across the country and internationally. Throughout his career, Matt has designed projects for top tier higher education clients and thinkers in the United States and abroad. His body of work has weighed heavily on providing designs that seek to solve complex problems that lead students and faculty to academic success. He approaches each project with an emphasis on craftsmanship and a relentless rigor to getting things right, placing thoughtful consideration on how details of space and form create a greater experience.
Matt’s tireless curiosity fuels a passion for learning, which he believes is a lifelong project. He values the collaborative process of design and is energized by a team of people that are eager to do good work and grow together. Matt is passionate about growing firm initiatives that cultivate and elevate emerging leadership and facilitate more vivid internal design discourse.
Matt lived in Iceland and studied architecture at Virginia Tech, Riva San Vitale and Mendrisio, Switzerland. These experiences abroad have played a tremendous role in his design approach and critical thinking. He has since been involved in overseas projects, including his current project in Saint Laurent-Sur-Mer, France where he is leading the design for a WWII Monument. Matt’s design abilities as an accomplished architect, design leader, mentor and firm strategist establish his strong credentials for recognition as a recipient of the 2018 AIAHR Award for Distinguished Achievement and Excellence in Design. Matt currently serves in an advisory role for The Navy SEAL Museum, The North Carolina Submarine Museum, and is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and the Royal Institute of British Architects.
