Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center Wins Interior Design Magazine’s Best of the Best Award
The Missouri Botanical Garden Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center was honored during the Interior Design Magazine’s 20th Annual Best of Year Awards, which recognizes standout projects and products across the design industry. In honor of the award program’s 20th anniversary, this year’s event included a special Best of the Best category to honor the most iconic products and projects of the past two decades. The visitor center was honored with a Best of the Best award for Institutional Projects for the past 20 years.
This award comes shortly after the project received an honorable mention in the Architect Newspaper’s Best of Design Awards and a Best in Show and Honor Award in Placemaking in the 2025 SEGD awards.
The Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center, which opened in 2023 in St. Louis, Missouri, was designed to blur boundaries between indoors and outdoors while creating an immersive experience that incorporates elements of the natural world. The project features many biophilic elements including a custom-designed scrim that filters dappled light into the lobby to evoke the feeling of entering a clearing in the woods, custom terrazzo floors that reflect the local landscape, and furniture forms inspired by rocks and pebbles.
