Following the completion of a long-range master plan for the sciences, Ayers Saint Gross designed the renovation and addition of the Donnelly Science Center to address the strengths, weaknesses, and programmatic needs of chemistry, biology, physics, computer science, engineering, and mathematics. The project includes new and renovated faculty offices, faculty and student research labs, teaching labs, lab support spaces, an animal facility, seminar rooms, classrooms, commons, and collaborative learning spaces. The synthesis of these spaces foster interdisciplinary education and nurture student-faculty interaction and research. The project not only transformed the natural sciences at Loyola, but also created an improved gateway to the campus with integrated building and landscape design. Donnelly Science Center was designed to meet LEED Silver standards.
