Serving as a new home for the Departments of Music and Theater, this renovation and addition addresses the need for a large rehearsal studio. Expanding the roofline creates a stronger presence and expresses a new identity for the theater department on campus. Cladding of glass and zinc panels draws on the material palette of the adjacent Performing Arts Building. A fire stair was transformed to improve the entrance sequence, creating a sense of arrival for students. Consistent, elegant grids of lights highlight the clarity of the cellular arrangement of practice rooms, teaching studios and classrooms. High efficiency air-handling units significantly reduce energy consumption.
