Women in the Military Service Monument
AREAS USA
Maryland’s first monument for women veterans is a contemplative space for reflection and education.

The Women in the Military Service Monument is located at the Chesapeake House, a travel plaza on Interstate 95 also designed by Ayers Saint Gross. The monument is a granite monolith with three angular plaques engraved with inspirational quotes from veterans. Under a canopy of gingko trees chosen for their vibrant yellow fall leaves, the contemplative space provides a space for reflection and education.
