The Experimental Sciences Building (ESB) II significantly expands Texas Tech University’s research capabilities with five general wet labs, four instrumentation labs, and three synthetic labs. Other notable features include the integration of graduate and post-doctoral research assistant offices, and informal learning spaces to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration.

Architecturally, the design of ESB II embraces the Spanish Renaissance typology of campus. The traditional exterior and modern interior meld together, creating a unique environment for the research programs housed within. The use of transparent glazing showcases labs, highlighting research in action and inspiring the graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty who frequent the facility. The design of this 120,000 GSF building was a collaboration with TreanorHL.
