Sojourner Truth Library Renovation
SUNY New Paltz
A vibrant renovation updates a university library for the digital age.
The Sojourner Truth Library, constructed in 1969, needed to offer expanded services suited for students in a digital age. In addition to study spaces, improvements include renovation of the courtyard east façade with a glazed entrance vestibule and adjacent bays to provide interior daylight and an inviting exterior. The addition of exterior glazing at the west wall of the library main and concourse level reading areas reveals the views of the Shawangunk Mountains. Other improvements include group study, conference spaces, library furniture, main-level public restrooms, and a new central circulation desk.
