The new Kahlert Foundation Complex embraces its distinctly different programmatic elements with clear departmental identities. Designed to create an inviting atmosphere, the space capitalizes on natural daylight through ample glazing. The transparency of the space allows academics and athletics to both be on display, while enriching the existing campus with flexible collaboration spaces throughout the complex. In addition to informal spaces, classrooms, teaching labs, faculty offices, and support spaces, the building features a full-scale competitive athletics gym, practice gym, training facility, and strength and conditioning facility. Sited on the South Campus, the MAC activates this section of campus through landscape improvements and leverages its complex geography to become a beacon visible from the academic core.
