Pedestrian Bridge
With a goal of creating a more walkable and connected campus, Lebanon Valley College hired Ayers Saint Gross to design a new pedestrian bridge connecting north and south campus over Norfolk Southern railroad tracks. The new bridge serves as a major pedestrian spine for the college and fulfills a goal of the college’s 2015 campus master plan, which was also completed by Ayers Saint Gross. The bridge replaces a previous version that was in poor condition and only accessible by stairs.
The new bridge incorporates lights in college colors of blue and white and serves as a welcoming pathway for pedestrians, bicycles, people with disabilities, and small motorized vehicles. On either entrance to the bridge, landscape improvements and terraces include lighted benches and allow for gradual ramping over grade differences.
