The Plant Science and Technology Area Master Plan is a vision to create a research and innovation district in west St. Louis County. The plan establishes a comprehensive framework to support a thriving district that drives economic growth by promoting the region’s global leadership in plant and life sciences. The district has many prominent anchors, and the plan aims to establish vehicular and pedestrian connectivity among these anchors. A central open space is proposed as a major pedestrian and bicycle spine to incrementally connect the Danforth Center to the light industrial area to the north. The plan also envisions a mix of densities and reuse of existing warehouses as “white box” lab space that embraces the district’s industrial character.
