Converge Square
The site within Miami’s Health District is near numerous hospitals and the UM Medical School, I-95, and the burgeoning Wynwood arts district. The master plan, created as a collaboration between the University of Miami, Wexford Science and Technology, and the Cambridge Innovation Center, calls for a dense collection of mixed-use research, residential, hospitality, and clinical buildings organized along a pedestrian promenade that link the heart of the Health District and UM Medical School campus to Converge Square, the main public space of the innovation district. The plaza and promenade are lined with retail and active ground-floor uses to generate a dynamic street life. A planned pedestrian connection features a continuous sculptural canopy to reduce the perceived distance and travel time to the innovation district. The focal point of Converge Square is District Hall, a flexible social space for innovators to gather and interact.
