The Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute supports global efforts to conserve species and train conservationists. The new Education and Training Center on its campus serves students and professionals attending programs ranging from a few days to a semester. The facility combines a renovated structure for classrooms with a two-story addition for labs, offices and outdoor classroom. The design follows a Facilities Master Plan for the campus, formerly used as a U.S. Quartermaster Remount Station and horse breeding facility. Both planning and building design services were part of Ayers Saint Gross’ Indefinite Delivery and Quantities Contract with the Smithsonian.
